Types of Braces
Have you ever wondered if braces today are the same as they used to be back in the day?
Well, the answer is that while braces are still a very common way orthodontists straighten teeth and align bites, the styles and shapes of braces have come a long way! Check out the different styles that we use.
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.
Clear (Ceramic) Braces
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts.
ICONIX® Aesthetic Braces
Iconix brackets have the durability of stainless steel with aesthetics that are equal to ceramic brackets. Iconix features a small, smooth design, combined with a champagne finish that appears more subtle against the natural color of your teeth, and the low profile, contoured design of each bracket maximizes comfort.
